Join the Jimmie Heuga Express and fundraise to benefit Can Do Multiple Sclerosis.

Enumclaw, Wash. (January 31, 2018) – SKI for MS, a day-long community fundraising ski event benefitting families with multiple sclerosis (MS), will hit the slopes of Crystal Mountain on February 24, 2018. One of six stops in a nationwide event series, the SKI for MS Crystal event benefits Can Do MS, a national nonprofit organization that transforms lives by delivering health and wellness education programs on exercise, nutrition, symptom management, and motivation to help families thrive.

“My wife and I have been involved with SKI for MS for 9 years now,” said Eric Wiseman, event director at Crystal Mountain. “This event continues to provide the support we need to help more families with MS. All the money we raise goes directly to scholarships for students to attend Can Do MS life-changing programs, regardless of financial ability.”

SKI for MS is a family-friendly event that includes amateur ski races, a vertical challenge, the Jimmie Heuga memorial ski down honoring Can Do MS founder, and an après party. Individuals can register for only $25 at mscando.org/Crystal or call 1-888-Do-It-4-MS.

Fundraisers are encouraged to create a team with their friends and family, raise $350 to earn VIP perks (includes three-day ski pass, continental breakfast, lunch, après/dinner and complimentary beverages), and continue fundraising to win a variety of exciting prizes.

Over the course of its 33-year history, the SKI for MS series has raised more than $11 million to provide free educational programs for those with MS and their families to help them thrive. The more funds that are raised at this event, the more people Can Do MS will be able to serve. In 2018, Can Do MS aims to double its number of programs for people living with MS. This event series will make that a reality.

Can Do MS honors the legacy and beliefs of founder and Olympic ski racing medalist Jimmie Heuga, a pioneer in the MS care management field, who was diagnosed with MS at the height of his skiing career and later went on to revolutionize the way MS is managed today.

The SKI for MS series is supported by presenting sponsor Sanofi Genzyme and national sponsors Genentech, Antlers at Vail, and Swany America. Local sponsors include Crystal Mountain, The Harmon Brewery, and The Paragon Bar and Grill.

About SKI for MS

SKI for MS began when Can Do MS founder Jimmie Heuga organized the first Snow Express for MS in Alyeska, AK. Original participants included fellow world-class skiers Jean Claude Killy, Phil and Steve Mahre, Billy Kidd, Stein Eriksen, and Bernhard Russi, who together broke records when they skied one million vertical feet in 24 hours. This event raised the seed money needed to start Can Do MS and it continues to be an important fundraiser for the organization.
