Cherry Hill, NJ • June 17, 2013 - Today the Multiple Sclerosis Coalition (MSC) debuts new accounts on Facebook and Twitter that will serve as a “one-stop” source for information on available MS programs and services. Representing the leading organizations in MS research, advocacy, education, and treatment, the MSC will provide information on the individual offerings of member organizations as well as collaborative efforts orchestrated through the Coalition itself. Spots Still Open for MSAA’s Children’s Program in Denver, CO

There are several open registrations remaining for MSAA’s upcoming patient education program at Dave & Buster’s in Denver, CO on Saturday, June 15^th at 9 am. The free program titled, Bridging the Communication Gap between Parents with MS and Their Children, invites parents and children to come together for special workshops which teach parents how to talk to their children about MS and enable children to learn about living with MS in a supportive manner through fun, interactive games and activities.

It was great to meet so many new people and hang out with old friends, past participants and our Programs Consultants in Orlando at the 27^th Annual Meeting of the CMSC! The Can Do MS team had an amazing time networking and learning more about MS research and education. The education, speakers, vendors, and all the little details were top notch – even the palm trees!

Beaver Creek’s 2nd Annual Cut & Slice Golf Event to Benefit Can Do Multiple Sclerosis

Edwards, Colo. • May 16, 2013 – Beaver Creek Resort Company has selected Can Do MS as the beneficiary of its 2^nd Annual Cut and Slice Golf Event presented by US Bank, to be held on Monday, May 27, 2013, at the Beaver Creek Golf Club from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Golfers also will enjoy barbecue and craft beers from Crazy Mountain Brewery and Breckenridge Brewery around the course. Tickets are $100 per person which includes greens fee, golf cart, practice balls, tee gift and barbecue and beer on the course. The award was one of 76 grants totaling almost $427,000 awarded by the Reeve Foundation to nonprofit organizations nationwide that provide more opportunities, access, and daily quality of life for individuals living with paralysis, their families, and caregivers. Created by the late Dana Reeve, the program has awarded 2,131 grants totaling over $16 million since 1999.

Weight Training Improves Walking and Quality of Life in a Small Study of Women with MS

Women participating in a small study of progressive resistance (weight) training improved significantly in walking, and reported improvements in quality of life as well. The study, funded by the National MS Society, used standard measures to evaluate the effects of the program, along with in-depth interviews of the participants to determine the full effects on quality of life.
