I really love these webinars - they teach me positive steps I can take to improve my life and protect my health.  Each one makes me feel better about my diagnosis.  Just like the name, they make me feel like I ‘Can Do MS'.

Village at Squaw Valley USA & Uncorked Wine Bar Will Pour Out Support For A Good Cause During the 20th Annual Alpen Wine Fest

    Posted Friday, August 1, 2008

Olympic Valley, CA. (August 1, 2008) – Ever had a Midlife Crisis in a glass? Or sipped from a Twisted River?  These are just two of the more than 40 Northern California wineries that will be present at the 20th Annual Alpen Wine Festival hosted by The Village at Squaw Valley USA and Uncorked Wine Bar on Sunday, August 31st 2008.  Former Olympic ski racer Jimmie Heuga will join wine aficionados at the event, which will help raise money for The Heuga Center for Multiple Sclerosis.

For a $40 donation to the Heuga Center, guests will receive a commemorative Spiegalau wine glass and unlimited wine tasting from 2 to 5 pm.  Event attendees will enjoy offerings from more than 40 Northern California vineyards, including ZD Wines, Hall, Scott, Seghesio, Sobon, Midlife Crisis, Lucchesi, Perry Creek, Quady, Three Families, Ehrhardt Estates, Ramian Estate, Alpen Cellars and Bray.

While savoring the wine and the spectacular alpine scenery, guests can appreciate live entertainment. Ivan Najera Quintet will spice up the event with their Spanish, Latin and jazz flavored music on the main stage. Emily Tessmer, whose vocals and piano playing have been called poignant and soulful, will entertain guests on the First Street stage. Tessmer has opened for a diverse number of acts including Gilby Clarke (Supernova) and Blue Oyster Cult and has sung the National Anthem for the San Diego Padres game at PETCO Park. She recently released her second album Luminarium. Card illusionist Mark Crowe also will add to the festive atmosphere at the Alpen Wine Tasting.

The Alpen Wine Festival also will feature a silent auction, which will help provide additional support for The Heuga Center. Festival attendees can bid on more than 50 items, including dinners at restaurants, magnums signed by winemakers, mixed cases of wine and more.

The majority of wines served at the event also can be purchased at Uncorked.
Jimmie Heuga founded The Heuga Center in 1984 to teach people with multiple sclerosis (MS) how to use exercise to help manage their life with this chronic disease. He wanted to share the principles that transformed his life from one of despair to one of health and well-being.
