I really love these webinars - they teach me positive steps I can take to improve my life and protect my health.  Each one makes me feel better about my diagnosis.  Just like the name, they make me feel like I ‘Can Do MS'.

New Partnership Strengthens Two Non-Profit’s Abilities to Unite and Inspire People Living With Multiple Sclerosis

    Posted Wednesday, September 12, 2012

Edwards, Colo. • September 12, 2012Can Do Multiple Sclerosis and Outdoor Mindset have established a partnership that will encourage individuals living with multiple sclerosis to gain valuable life experiences through connecting with those who have a similar diagnosis and outdoor interests. These connections enable those impacted by multiple sclerosis to receive support from someone uniquely familiar with their experience.

Each organization stands to make substantial gains for its respective members. By promoting and encouraging members to participate in Outdoor Mindset’s membership and programs, Can Do MS of Edwards, Colorado, is national nonprofit organization that provides innovative lifestyle empowerment programs for people living with MS and their support partners. Outdoor Mindset presents their free membership opportunity to the Can Do MS audience in order to build their membership and allow more people affected by MS to participate in their Guide Program (1-on-1 Connections) and Outdoor Meetup Group program.

Outdoor Mindset’s Guide Program matches OM members (1-on-1) with others who have experience with similar neurological disorders and who share a common passion for the outdoors. This program also links supporters (spouses, parents, children and other family members and friends) with someone in a parallel situation as well. The outdoor element is an important piece for Outdoor Mindset, which thinks that the outdoors, whether it’s having lunch outside or climbing a mountain, can contribute an important therapeutic element to a person’s life, especially when dealing with a neurological challenge.

When asked about the partnership, Can Do MS President and CEO, Heidi A. Heltzel, stated, "Outdoor Mindset is a perfect collaboration to Can Do MS’s mission to reach more people living with MS by giving them the tools to adopt healthy lifestyle behaviors. Everything we do at Can Do MS is driven by one simple belief: You are more than your MS.  For many, outdoor activities in a caring, supportive environment will increase group and individual interaction and help foster positive relationships."
