Can Do MS is an organization driven by a deep passion and commitment to help people live their best lives with multiple sclerosis. Our highly qualified leadership team, governed by a board of directors comprised of business professionals and MS advocates and staffed by some of the leading professionals in the MS field, all share the core belief that everyone has the power to live their best life with MS. Each plays a critical role in helping us fulfill our mission. From stewardship to administration, fundraising and program delivery, our mission is only as successful as the individuals behind it.
SENIOR LEADERSHIP TEAM
|Lisa Mattis, Interim Chief Executive Officer: Lisa joined the Can Do MS leadership team in January 2016 as the organizations interim CEO. She oversees the delivery of existing programs, fundraising efforts and financial goals, while implementing management programs and organizational assessments focused on cultural and team development. As the principal at Catalyst Philanthropy, based in Denver, CO, Lisa has over two decades of experience in strategic planning, board and staff development and organizational alignment. She also recently served in interim executive leadership roles at the Foundation for Colorado Community Colleges, World Class Accessibility Foundation and The Joshua School. Lisa is a graduate of Fordham University and earned her master’s degree in public administration from New York’s Columbia University. Lisa currently resides in Denver, but calls the Vail Valley home for many weekends of the year. She is a certified ski instructor for Vail Resorts, and in her free time, enjoys tackling the peaks of the Rockies on her skis and road bike. Read more.|
|Douglas C. Baird, Director of Finance & Operations: Douglas joined the Can Do MS leadership team in 2015 and plays a critical role in implementing the infrastructure and systems needed to strengthen the organization’s financial position and to carry out its mission. As a seasoned finance executive, Doug draws on a background from for-profit and non-profit sectors, bringing a wealth of accounting best-practice experience to the organization. Prior to joining Can Do MS, Doug was Controller for the Allen Company in Broomfield, Colorado. Notably, he served in various key roles on the Board of Directors for the Hospice of Metro Denver, including Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Treasurer. Doug is a graduate of Colorado State University and earned his MBA from the University of Denver. On a personal note, Doug draws inspiration from the mountains and is an intrepid traveler. Dreams of faraway places have led Doug and his wife, Anne Clark, to such exotic locales as the Annapurna range, the jungles of the Amazon and India’s Tsar Desert. Inevitably, like many who choose to live in the Vail Valley, Doug and Anne agree: There’s no place like home!|
|Jennifer Clark, Director of Marketing & Communications: Jenn directs marketing and communications for our Program and Development Departments. Her passion for meaningful work led her to Can Do MS in April 2011 as the Communications and Marketing Manager. Since then she has been promoted to Director and oversees all marketing operations. Combining strong writing skills and an enthusiasm for communications, Jenn supports Can Do MS’s mission. She currently serves on the communications committee for the Multiple Sclerosis Coalition. Jenn graduated from Georgia Southern University with a degree in Communications/Public Relations. She enjoys using her can do spirit by teaching yoga to fellow colleagues weekly to empower the Can Do MS staff to take an active role in feeling healthy. When she is not in the office, you can find Jenn hiking with her dog Mr. Pele, skiing or striking a yoga pose.|
|Anne Lee Gilbert, Director of Programs: Anne joined the Programs Department of the Can Do MS team in June of 2013. She serves as the Director of Programs and oversees all programmatic and strategic operations for the Programs Department. After college, Anne worked as a high school math teacher in Richmond, VA, before transitioning into the non-profit healthcare arena. Anne has over 14 years of experience in education and program management working as a Sr. Education Manager at the American College of Cardiology in Washington, DC, and as the Director of Education at the California Pharmacists Association in Sacramento, CA. She is passionate about bringing her experience in education and program management to support the Can Do MS mission of providing lifestyle empowerment tools and programs to people living with MS and their support partners. In her free time, you can find Anne exploring the beautiful Rockies with her dog Bentley and husband Chris.|
|Morgan Landers, Director of Development: Morgan joined the Can Do MS Development team with a passion for sharing the joy people experience when they achieve something great! Coming from more than 10 years in the fast-paced commercial real estate industry, she lead major community outreach campaigns and managed development projects for non-profit and private sector clients. Merging her personal passions with her professional skills, she is excited to put her experience toward the execution of the Can Do MS mission! As a Colorado native, she thrives in the mountains. When not in the office, you can find her training for her triathlon season, or hitting the trails with her mountain dog Hotch.|
